career opportunities

When Marta was a little baby she was incredibly strong. She even started walking within a few weeks of birth. I would lay on my back in our Valgevase apartment in Tallinn, and Marta would pull herself up with my hands and walk on my chest.

I told Epp that perhaps our daughter was a born athlete, but she scolded me for trying to conjure up a future profession for our daughter. Marta would be free to choose, we would encourage her and give her different experiences and skill sets, but it was up to her whether or not she would be the next Kristina Šmigun or not.

These days though, I am thinking that Marta just must have some kid of outlet for her passionate personality. I would say actress, but actresses seem like troubled people, incapable of finding stability in their lives. Maybe PR would be better? Marta definitely seems like some of the PR people I have met before -- and I mean that only in a good way.

Marta has told us that she would like to be a music teacher. That could be fun too.

Anna, meantime, has just started talking a little. She still mostly says "emme," but the other night she said "mimi" and "papa." I would say "papa" to her, and she would respond "mimi."Then I would say "mimi," and she would answer back "papa."

Based on Anna's main fixations these days, I could easily imagine her spending her days as a baker, tasting different cakes, or as a dentist, because she has a thing for carrying around toothbrushes.

I always thought that dentistry was a miserable existence of sticking your hands in other people's mouths, but my dentist here is very nice and seems pleased with her work.
